ITALIANO In un futuro non troppo lontano i sogni della piccola Gaia (Gaia Fossani) sono rovinati dai cattivi che abitano la città. ENGLISH In the near future, young Gaia’s dreams are shattered by the evil people who populate the city. Her grandfather (Pietro Ghislandi) tries to distract her by using her imagination. He creates for her, a fantastic place to hide from reality, a reality in which the oil reserves are almost finished and in which plastic has become a valuable material.
FRANçAIS L’histoire se passe dans un futur assez proche. Les rêves de la petite Gaia sont perturbés par la présence d’hommes méchants qui circulent en ville. En faisant appel à l’imagination son grand-père (Pietro Ghislandi) réussit à la distraire. Il lui invente un nouveau monde, un lieu fantastique où elle peut se réfugier et oublier la réalité du monde, un monde où les réserves pétrolifères sont pratiquement épuisées et où le plastique est devenu une matière précieuse.
DEUTSCH In naher Zukunft werden die Träume der kleinen Gaia gestört von bösen Elementen die durch die Stadt streichen. Ihr Grossvater (Pietro Ghislandi) versucht sie mit viel Phantasie zu beruhigen indem er für sie eine neue phantastische Welt erfindet in die man sich flüchten kann, um die harte Realität hinter sich zu lassen, in der es fast keine Oelreserven mehr gibt und auch Plastik rar wird.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT ITALIANO - In “Ombre” abbiamo inviato la nostra cinepresa in un futuro dove il petrolio si è esaurito e il benessere che conosciamo non esiste più. L’inquinamento ha oscurato il cielo e l’aria è irrespirabile. Un futuro dove l’esaurimento del petrolio non vuol dire solo la fine di un carburante, ma anche della plastica. Un materiale che ci circonda in ogni momento della nostra vita, un materiale così essenziale da diventare prezioso. La macchina da presa raggiunge una famiglia, e mostra che da questo mondo si può scappare usando la fantasia. ENGLISH - In "Ombre (Shadows)" we have sent the camera to a near future where the petrol is exhausted and the welfare that we know doesn't exist anymore. The pollution has darkened the sky and the air cannot be breathed anymore. The end of the petrol's era doesn't mean just the end of the fuel, but even of the plastic. A material that surrounds us in every moment of our lives, and we cannot live without it. For this reason in this future the plastic has become very precious. The camera reaches a family that lives in this world, and shows the seven years old girl Gaia, that is afraid of the pastic-thieves. Her grandfather creates for her a better world just using the fantasy, the only way to escape from that sad reality.
